Your tutor…
Christopher’s interest in spoken and written English stems from over 40 years in business-to-business advertising and marketing – originally as a graphic designer then as a copywriter (= the person who writes the words for advertisements, brochures, web sites, etc. ).
For 26 years of that time, Christopher was the Managing Director/Owner of an Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations company, based in London, with business and military clients in the UK, Holland, Germany, France, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand and the USA.
In 2004, after ‘retiring’ from business, Christopher studied to become a CELTA* qualified teacher of business and social English.
(* University of Cambridge University Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) - Accreditation No. 100/2664/2)
After training and two years of part-time teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) and English as a second language (ESL/ESOL) in the UK and, for a short time, in France, he became a Residential Teacher with the eminent Marcus Evans Linguarama language college – one of the largest and most respected international business language and communication training organizations with over 20 European Centres.
Overall, Christopher has gained substantial experience in teaching English as a foreign language, through his social, cultural and international business connections and through intensive, one-to-one, total immersion tutoring of over 200 students from many different countries – Angola, Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mali, Niger, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and West Africa.
However, after two years full-time residential employment with Linguarama - living at Cheney Court, (Linguarama’s superb UK Residential Centre near Bath) Christopher wanted to spend more time with his wife and family (aaahh!!).
So, based at his home, The White House in the county of Wiltshire, Christopher continues to teach English combined with providing a luxury ‘homestay’ holiday service for individual adult students and/or their families. (See 'The right environment in which to learn').
‘Learning English on Holiday’ is the result.
